Bodrum's jet-set bay

Türkbükü lies on the calm north coast of the Bodrum peninsula, about 20 km from Bodrum town, and together with neighbouring Gölköy forms the municipality of Göltürkbükü. For years it has been a summer meeting place for Istanbul's social set: the shoreline is lined with wooden piers and platforms where beach clubs, restaurants and boutique hotels serve guests from late morning until well after dark.

Swimming and the scene

There is little sand here – you swim from the piers straight into deep, clear water, sheltered from the strongest winds. Days are spent on a sunbed, evenings over long dinners by the sea, and on summer weekends the bay is at its most fashionable.
