The Legal Framework
Law No. 7464 on the Rental of Residences for Tourism Purposes and Amendments to Certain Laws was published in the Turkish Official Gazette in late 2023 and entered into force on 1 January 2024. It introduced new rules for short-term holiday rentals of residential properties.
Under this law, anyone renting out a residence for tourism purposes for periods shorter than 100 days must obtain a permit from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The main rules are:
- For flats in apartment buildings or complexes, the consent of all other flat owners is required.
- The plate or permit number must be displayed at the entrance of the property and in all advertisements.
- Guests must be registered with the identity notification system.
- Operating without a permit can lead to administrative fines. We do not quote amounts here, as they are updated every year.
The Permit Number on Villora
The number shown in the "Tourism Permit No." field on our listings consists of the province's plate code followed by a sequence number. For example, a villa in Antalya might show 07-4512, while a villa in Muğla would start with 48-.
The "Verified" Badge
If a listing carries a "verified" badge, the Villora team has reviewed the document provided by the owner and checked that it matches the number on the listing. This check is not a guarantee about the document's current validity or official records, but it shows that the owner has shared their permit with us.
Why We Show It
- Legal compliance: the law requires the permit number to appear in advertisements.
- Guest confidence: staying in a permitted property offers a more transparent and secure rental experience.
For Guests and Owners
- Guests: if a listing shows no permit number, we recommend asking the owner for it before you book.
- Owners: you can add your permit number and a copy of your document in the owner panel and request verification.
Official information on application requirements and current rules is available on the website of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
