Holiday Villas with a Roof Terrace in Türkiye
A roof terrace gives you the best view in the house and an extra place to relax away from the pool. Browse villas with a roof terrace on Türkiye's south-west coast and ask the owners directly about shade, railings and access.
Why choose a roof terrace?
A roof terrace is an open-air living space on top of the villa, usually reached by a staircase. On the steep hillsides of Kalkan and Kaş it often gives the widest view in the house: across the bay, over the rooftops and out to the sunset. It is where you take a sundowner, lie back and look at the stars after dinner, or find a quiet sunbathing spot when the pool terrace gets busy. For larger families and groups of friends it works as a second living room in the open air.
What to check before you book
Roof terraces vary a lot, so look carefully at the photos and ask the owner:
- Are the railings high and solid? Is there a gate at the top of the stairs if you travel with small children?
- Is there shade, such as a pergola, awning or parasols? A roof in full midday sun gets very hot.
- Are the stairs internal or external, and how steep are they?
- What furniture is provided: sun loungers, a lounge set, a dining table, lighting?
- If the listing mentions a hot tub or outdoor kitchen on the roof, is it in working order?
Where and when
Kalkan and Kaş are known for terraced hillsides with open sea views; from Kaş you can see the lights of the Greek island of Kastellorizo at night. Around Fethiye and Ölüdeniz many roof terraces face mountains and valleys, and in Bodrum you will find villas looking over bays. In July and August a roof terrace is mainly an early-morning and evening space; in May, June, September and October you can enjoy it all day.
