What counts as a spa villa?
To appear here, a villa must offer at least one of these wellness facilities: a sauna, a traditional Turkish hammam, a steam room or a dedicated massage room. Some go further and group several of them together, often near an indoor pool, to create a small private spa. A villa with both a sauna and a hammam works well for groups, as everyone can pick the heat they prefer.
Spa villas suit couples who want a genuinely restful break, walkers and sailors looking to ease tired muscles after a day on the Lycian Way or a boat trip, and families wanting a warm retreat in the cooler months. Note that a hot tub or jacuzzi on its own is a separate villa type, with its own page.
Questions for the owner
- Which facilities exactly: sauna, hammam, steam room, massage room?
- How are the sauna and hammam heated, and how long do they take to warm up?
- Is use of the spa included, or charged separately?
- Can a massage therapist be arranged, and at what cost?
- Are towels, bathrobes and slippers provided?
- Is the spa area next to an indoor pool?
Regions and season
Spa villas are mostly larger, upmarket properties in Kalkan, Kaş, Fethiye and Bodrum. In summer the sauna and hammam come into their own in the evening; in spring, autumn and winter they often become the favourite part of the house. Remember that villas need heating in winter and not all are available outside the main season.
Booking directly
Villora does not take bookings or payments; owners set their own terms. Check the VillaNo and Tourism Permit number on the listing, and get spa charges and rules confirmed in writing.
