One-level villas are a relief for families travelling with grandparents, parents of toddlers who are just finding their feet and anyone who wants to spare their knees or back. Without stairs there is less worry about little ones wandering, night-time trips to the bathroom are easier and luggage goes straight to the bedroom. They are also a good option if someone in your party is recovering from an injury.

On the steep hillsides of Kalkan and Kaş most villas are built on several levels, so single storey options are fewer and there may be outdoor steps up to the house. The flatter land around Belek and Kemer, villages near Fethiye such as Ovacık, Hisarönü and Kayaköy, and parts of the Bodrum peninsula are better places to look.
