What makes a villa family-friendly?

Accepting children is not the same as being set up for them. Villas on this page are marked by their owners as children welcome, or have a play area in the garden, or provide toys and board games. In a family-friendly villa everyone gets their own space: the kids play in the garden while the adults relax on the terrace, and dinner happens when it suits the children rather than the restaurant.

Checklist before you book

• How deep is the pool, and is there a shallow end or a separate kids' pool?
• Is there a fence or alarm around the pool?
• What is in the play area, and is the surface safe?
• Does the bed layout suit children (bunks, single beds)?
• Are balcony and terrace railings high enough?
• How far are the beach, a supermarket and restaurants?

Where to look

Ölüdeniz and Fethiye are popular with families thanks to shallow, sandy beaches nearby. Belek offers flat land and villas with generous gardens. Göcek, close to Dalaman airport, keeps the journey short for younger children. Kalkan and Kaş have wonderful views, but hillside villas often come with lots of steps, so factor that in.
